Welcome Getting Started Tips

Welcome to CBC Library!

First Year Introduction (FYI) students should review the content of this module and then take the Library quiz in their FYI class.

The FYI Library Assignment is intended to:

Help you locate the CBC Library;
Introduce you to the wide range of resources and services the library offers;
Show you how to find CBC Library items;
Familiarize you with some of the ways you can access textbooks;
Tell you where you can get help from CBC Librarians;
Introduce you to the Library's spaces.

The course should take about thirty minutes to view; there are pdf versions of the slides with accompanying notes for each video, as well as a compilation of module notes at the end for quick review if you have difficulty with one of the quiz questions.

Getting Started

Before you start the course you'll need:

Speakers or Headphones - the videos include audio narration; on the CBC campus, you can go to the Library and borrow a set of headphones. If you can't get speakers or headphones the 'CC' button will provide text captions, or you can use the notes versions instead of viewing the videos.
Student Username & Password- If you've already logged into the CBC website to get into Canvas you shouldn't need to login again to use our databases for the quiz.

Tips for Success

Like most of your classes, the amount of helpful information you get out of this module is tied to how much effort you put into it!
- Take notes, test yourself, and try to be interested in the content. (This last one goes a long way in helping you to retain information.)
